As part of the Annual Water Main Replacement Program to improve and modernize Osceola’s water infrastructure, Osceola Water Works is moving forward with plans to replace an aging water main located along the 100 and 200 blocks of North Lincoln Street. This area has experienced repeated water main failures and service disruptions, making it the utility’s next target area for replacement.
The annual replacement program will help to reduce emergency repairs, improve service reliability, and allow us to deliver safe reliable water to our customers,” said Brandon Patterson, General Manager of Osceola Water Works.
The Osceola Water Works Board of Trustees will accept contractor bids for the project until 2 p.m. October 2, 2026. Bids will be reviewed and the Water Board will consider awarding contracts at the October 8, 2026 Water Board meeting.
The project includes installing more than 1,100 feet of new water main on the west side of North Lincoln Street, along with new valves, fire hydrants, service lines and meter pits. The targeted area can be seen in blue on the attached map. A full set of plans are available at the Osceola Water Works office, 208 W Jefferson St., Osceola, IA 50213 for viewing.
As with any major infrastructure project, temporary water outages and street closures will be necessary to complete the work safely and efficiently. Osceola Water Works will coordinate directly with residents in the project area throughout the duration of the project.
Osceola Water Works is hopeful to have the installation of the new water main finished this fall, before winter weather arrives. Depending on weather conditions, some work may continue into the spring, with the entire project expecting to be completed by May 1, 2027.
